There are many ways to make extra money online. Personally I believe the best way to make money online is to own a website, such as this one. I will show you how to make extra money by running a blog. From the first steps of creation to getting that site indexed and ranked by google( the money making part).

This requires hard work. A lot of hard work. A lot of blind faith work. This isn’t a get paid by the hour kind of job. You are the only boss. Add into the mix, your competitors are already miles ahead of you making lots of money. This may see like a bit of a downer but a realistic downer. I’m not saying you won’t make extra money online, just be prepared for a lot of work. I’m sure a lot of people have just left after me saying there are no magic buttons, you can just press to make extra money. Oh wait, there are, there are lots of them, I give you keys on a keyboard. The magic buttons you have been waiting for.

 Where to begin making extra money

Pick a niche, it slightly helps if it’s something you have an interest in. Though it doesn’t matter if you don’t. Every blog/ebook/guru always says pick something you have an interest in. Unless you have a passion about writing,actually sitting down and writing out articles. It probably won’t make much difference to your enjoyment level while working on your site. Work is work, right? You’re not here to enjoy yourself, you’re here to make extra money. Yes, shout it with me, I want the extra money. Ok, and relax, I have managed to calm myself from that over excitement.

Finding niches that will make extra money

Google does help with this particular matter. With their funky keyword tool. I have a more in depth look at this tool in my article keyword tool(now, with 40% more colourful pictures). But for now I will give you the basics. Enter a word relating to a niche you plan to create a site about. Google will then spit a 100 related keyword ideas at you. Always remember to change the match type from broad to exact. Roughly five thousand searches a month with low competition is a good keyword to go for. If you change tools from keyword tool to traffic estimator. Google will give you a rough estimate of how much money that term is worth. Basically how much extra money you can make by ranking for it.

Found a keyword for my niche, how will that make extra money?

The phrase you have come up with will help you decide what kind of domain name you will want to register. For example the keyword I am targeting is how to make extra money. A lot of hosts offer one click installations of wordpress which makes life simpler.

Getting indexed on search engines is a very import step on our money making journey. If you can’t be found on google or any other search engines. How will you make any extra money? Social media I hear you cry. That is a debate for another day. As google is still the biggest traffic source at the moment. I will concentrate on google.

Getting indexed

1. Write a unique 500 word article and post it on your blog. Of course you can write more but I wouldn’t advise less.
2. Try to optimise that article by using your keyword as much as possible. Obviously the article has to make sense. So don’t spam your keyword. Anything around the 2% mark is good. How to check the keyword density in an article.
3. Find a high pr blog or forum where I can place my link. Obviously if provide a valuable comment you’re more likely to get the link. I try to get 10 of these links.
4. Create some social media profiles. Twitter, Facebook, Delicious.

Getting indexed is always a variable affair. Usually my site will appear on google within 24 hours. If your site is still not indexed. You can try this funky indexing tool.
